What to know before selling imported wine in the Philippines
An FDA License to Operate
The Food and Drug Administration licenses importers, exporters and wholesalers of food as food distributors, with a License to Operate covering the import, sale and distribution of food. An initial licence is valid for two years and a renewal for five, and a distributor that sells to the general public is considered a retailer.

A product registration for each wine
Every processed food needs a Certificate of Product Registration before it is sold, and each importer secures its own, even when another importer already registered the same product. The certificate names the importer and is needed to release the wine from the Bureau of Customs. A change of vintage or alcohol content is notified rather than re-registered.

Accreditation with the Bureau of Customs
Importing takes an accreditation with the Bureau of Customs, valid for three years for a regular importer, granted on the importer's business and tax registrations, a mayor's permit for its main office, proof of its financial capacity to import and a list of the goods it imports.

Excise tax and sales statements
Wine carries a specific excise tax per litre, 50 pesos from 23 January 2020 and increased by 6% every year from 2021. Importers of wine submit to the Bureau of Internal Revenue a sworn statement of the volume of sales and removals of each brand.

No sale to anyone under 18
The Food and Drug Administration warns food retailers against selling alcoholic beverages to minors, below 18 years old. Supermarkets, groceries and convenience stores sell them in a designated section with prominent signage, and advertising must say that the beverage contains alcohol and must not promote it to minors.

Questions and answers
Which licence do I need to sell imported wine in the Philippines?
A License to Operate from the Food and Drug Administration as a food distributor, an accreditation with the Bureau of Customs to import, and an FDA product registration in your name for each wine. The Bureau of Customs also asks for the mayor's permit of your main office.
Can I sell wine online to buyers in the Philippines?
The FDA licensing pages name no separate licence for selling wine online, and local rules vary, so confirm with the FDA and your city before you start. Order requests from Asiavino reach you as the licensed seller: you confirm them, take payment and deliver, and you remain responsible for not selling to anyone under 18.
Does the Distributor Studio cost anything?
No. The distributor account is free: no subscription, no listing fees and no commission on wine sales.
Who sells the wine to the buyer?
You do. Asiavino does not sell alcohol: it transmits each order request to the licensed distributor, who confirms it, takes payment and delivers.
Can I choose the brands and wines I carry?
Yes. You activate only the wines you distribute, in the markets where your company is licensed, and you can propose wines that are not on Asiavino yet.
Who can join?
Wine importers and distributors. When you join, you confirm that your company holds every licence and registration its markets require, and Asiavino can verify them.
