How it works
How distributors in Thailand work with Asiavino
Online sale of wine is not allowed in Thailand
A 2020 notification of the Office of the Prime Minister forbids selling alcohol to consumers by electronic means, or inviting them to buy it that way. Asiavino therefore offers no ordering and no order requests for wine in Thailand at present: you sell through your own licensed channels. Thai distributors are welcome to open a free Distributor Studio to present their company and promote their events and content.
Claim or create your profile
Open a free Distributor Studio account, or claim the profile a brand has already created for your company.
Present your company
Say who you are, which brands you carry and how the trade can reach you, as information rather than an offer for sale.
Promote your events
List your tastings, masterclasses and other wine events, with ticketing and QR check-in at the door. Our team reviews each listing.
Keep your contacts
Keep your trade and private contacts in the free CRM, and follow up with them through your own channels.
Pricing
A free account for wine distributors.
Paid event tickets: Asiavino retains an all-inclusive commission of 8% on ticket sales and covers the payment processing fees.

What to know before selling imported wine in Thailand
A liquor selling licence from the excise office
Under the Excise Tax Act 2017, selling liquor takes a licence from the area excise office where the shop is located, valid for one year. Category 1 covers sales of 10 litres or more at a time and category 2 sales of less than 10 litres, and the place of sale must not be one where the Alcoholic Beverage Control Act forbids it.
Excise permission to import
Liquor is imported with the Excise Department's permission, requested before it arrives. For wine, the applicant shows its category 1 liquor selling licence, an invoice or pro forma invoice and a label sample in Thai or English, and receives a Liquor Import License.

A food import licence and the Thai warning
Thai food law treats liquor as a food with prescribed quality standards, and the Food Act prohibits importing food for sale without a licence from the Food and Drug Administration. Each bottle must also carry the Ministry of Public Health's boxed warning in Thai against sale to anyone under 20.

No online sale of alcohol to consumers
A notification of the Office of the Prime Minister, published in the Royal Gazette in September 2020, forbids selling alcoholic beverages directly to consumers by electronic means, or inviting them to buy or offering alcohol to them that way, where seller and buyer trade without meeting. Paying electronically at a shop, restaurant or venue that serves alcohol is not affected.
No sale to anyone under 20
The Alcoholic Beverage Control Act forbids selling alcoholic beverages to anyone under 20 or to anyone too drunk to be in control. Sale hours and places are also restricted by notifications under the Act, which change from time to time: check the current ones with the Department of Disease Control before you sell.

Questions and answers
Which licence do I need to sell imported wine in Thailand?
A liquor selling licence from the area excise office where you sell: category 1 for sales of 10 litres or more at a time, category 2 for less. To import wine yourself you also need the Excise Department's permission, which requires a category 1 licence, and a food import licence from the Food and Drug Administration.
Can I sell wine online to buyers in Thailand?
Not directly to consumers. Since a 2020 notification of the Office of the Prime Minister, alcohol may not be sold or offered to consumers, nor may they be invited to buy it, by electronic means where seller and buyer do not meet. The rule applies however the sale is arranged, so confirm with your counsel how you take and fulfil orders before you sell to consumers.
Does the Distributor Studio cost anything?
No. The distributor account is free: no subscription and no listing fees.
Who sells the wine to the buyer?
You do, through your own licensed channels. Asiavino does not sell alcohol and takes no order requests for wine in Thailand: your Distributor Studio presents your company, your events and your content.
Can I choose the brands and wines I carry?
Yes. You activate only the wines you distribute, in the markets where your company is licensed, and you can propose wines that are not on Asiavino yet.
Who can join?
Wine importers and distributors. When you join, you confirm that your company holds every licence and registration its markets require, and Asiavino can verify them.
