How it works
How distributors in South Korea sell wine with Asiavino
In South Korea, wine is ordered online and collected in the shop
Korean law lets a liquor retailer take orders online only when the wine is handed over in person at its shop. On Asiavino, buyers in South Korea therefore order online and collect at one of your shops: you declare each shop with its address, map link and opening hours, and you check the buyer’s ID when you hand the wine over. Nothing is delivered.

What to know before selling imported wine in South Korea
A liquor licence for each place of sale
Under the Liquor Licence Act, selling liquor, brokering included, needs a licence from the head of the tax office for each place of sale, by type of business. The types include the liquor import and export business, comprehensive liquor wholesale, which buys from producers and importers to sell wholesale, and liquor retail.

Online sale of wine is restricted
Under the National Tax Service notice on mail-order sale of liquor, only approved traditional liquor producers may sell liquor online. A liquor retailer may take orders by phone or app only if it hands the wine to the customer in person at its shop.

Registration with the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety
Under the Special Act on Imported Food Safety Control, a business that imports food for sale registers with the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety, has each overseas manufacturing facility registered before the import declaration, and declares each import. The importer is responsible for the safety and quality of what it declares.
No sale to anyone under 19
Under the Youth Protection Act, liquor may not be sold to anyone under 19, including through vending machines or telecommunications; a person is no longer a minor from 1 January of the year they turn 19. A seller must check the buyer's age and identity, and a liquor retailer displays a notice that sale to minors is prohibited.

Questions and answers
Which licence do I need to sell imported wine in South Korea?
A liquor sales licence from the head of the tax office for each place of sale: the liquor import and export licence to import, the comprehensive liquor wholesale licence to sell to other businesses, the liquor retail licence to sell to consumers. Importing food for sale also takes a registration with the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety.
Can I sell wine online to buyers in South Korea?
Only within narrow limits: a liquor retailer may take an order by phone or app and hand the wine over in person at its shop, and a website that is not an approved seller may not show delivery, payment or cart functions for liquor. Order requests from Asiavino reach you as the licensed seller; you confirm each one and complete the sale in a way the rules allow.
Does the Distributor Studio cost anything?
No. The distributor account is free: no subscription, no listing fees and no commission on wine sales.
Who sells the wine to the buyer?
You do. Asiavino does not sell alcohol: it transmits each order request to the licensed distributor, who confirms it, takes payment and hands the wine to the buyer in person at its shop.
Can I choose the brands and wines I carry?
Yes. You activate only the wines you distribute, in the markets where your company is licensed, and you can propose wines that are not on Asiavino yet.
Who can join?
Wine importers and distributors. When you join, you confirm that your company holds every licence and registration its markets require, and Asiavino can verify them.
